Nera di Folgarida - Folgarida
The black slope of Folgarida was built during the summer of 1967, as a result of a consultation by the well-known Technical Director of the F.I.S.I. National Teams at the time, Ermanno Nogler. The slope was already approved for international races back in 1969, and in 1996 important changes were made to enlarge and define certain features of the slope. In 1998, floodlights were installed along the final part of the slope, giving skiers the chance to also try night skiing. Equipped with one of the most modern artificial snowmaking system, the slope can be completely prepared and groomed using programmed snow. It is a technical slope, with a vertical drop of 600 meters and an average width of 35 meters, wedged into the forest: it is a challenging descent but a fun and varied slope. Numerous ski competitions have taken place on this slope including the ISF Snowboarding World Championship in 1999 and numerous editions of the Snowboard Trofeo Topolino. Skiers that can ski down this slope without catching their breath definitely deserve a pat on the back.
