Skirama Skiing in southern Alps among the Brenta Dolomites

About us

The need to create an agreement between the various ski lift companies throughout the western part of the Trentino region became apparent during the 70’s, in particular concerning the Folgarida-Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio ski resorts. Considering the fact that this area is connected without ever having to take your skis off, the need to create a single ski pass for skiers was fundamental.
The same problem was also a major concern for the Tonale ski resort where, at the time, it was impossible to ski on all the slopes without having to purchase 4 ski passes.
A situation similar to that of Passo Tonale also existed in the Andalo and Folgaria ski resorts.
Towards the end of the 70’s, problems concerning a single ski pass were resolved between the Folgarida-Marilleva and Madonna di Campiglio ski resorts and in the other ski areas that had similar problems. But in the 80’s this type of ski pass began to already have certain limitations, particularly for Val di Sole that had started to promote its skiing facilities on the international market. Therefore a reciprocal contract was agreed upon between Folgarida-Marilleva, Peio, Tonale-Ponte di Legno, Madonna di Campiglio and Pinzolo. This agreement gave skiers the possibility to ski one day in each of these ski resorts when purchasing a local weekly ski pass in one of these areas. But not everything was that simple; at least not on Sundays, a skier staying in Peio or Tonale that wanted to ski in Madonna di Campiglio, could not go to Marilleva and ski over to Madonna di Campiglio, but instead skiers had to directly reach the resort etc….
The turning point occurred in 1993: the considerable devaluation of the lira compared to other strong European currencies, such as the German mark, made skiing in Italy suddenly very convenient on foreign markets. Our skiing facilities offered skiers an interesting proposal but it still was not complete for “true skiers” that were used to the slopes located north of the Alps and the various ski resorts that together offered skiers the possibility to ski on several hundred kilometres of slopes.

Towards the end of the 90’s, an agreement began to evolve between the lift companies of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, Folgarida-Marilleva, Peio, Tonale-Ponte di Legno and Monte Bondone and the SKIRAMA DOLOMITI  adamello brenta Association began to take its first steps.
In 1998 Andalo-Fai della Paganella joined the association and in 2000, Folgaria-Lavarone also joined.
The Association’s first statute was approved on May 31st, 2002.
Another important turning point occurred in 2001 when the Skidata system was implemented in all the ski resorts. Ski passes are now automatically issued and checked at the access gates to the ski lifts.
At the moment, the various ski passes that are issued in each single ski resort, are the following:
- LOCAL from 1 to 14 days and season passes;
- SUPERSKIRAMA with free access on 150 lifts within the 8 ski resorts, from 1 to 14 days and annual passes
Almost all the ski resorts also offer:
- hourly or ½ day LOCAL ski passes;
- a SKIRAMA ski pass from 5 to 14 days, valid within the ski resort in which the ski pass is issued and one day in all of the other participating ski resorts;
- a season SKIRAMA ski pass valid within the ski resort in which the ski pass is issued and 2 days in all of the other participating ski resorts;
- other possible combinations are described in the price lists of each single ski resort.

Starting from the 2003/04 winter season, the annual SUPERSKIRAMA ski pass allows skiers to ski for 5 days on 1.150 kilometres of slopes that are part of the Dolomiti Superski.

In addition to reaching their aim of managing the types of ski passes that are issued as an Association, it also works in close contact with the various accommodation facilities and the Tourism Promotion boards that are present within the territory, therefore offering skiers the opportunity to choose between special offers that include both accommodation and ski passes.
The Association also has a detailed promotional program, participating in specific exhibitions and various workshops with Tour operators and Agencies.
Some of its promotional offers have already come to characterize the SKIRAMA DOLOMITI adamello brenta such as their FREE SKI weeks, a promotional offer that includes a combined 7-day stay with ski pass during the beginning and the end of the winter season and LADIES’ DAY, which gives ladies free access to the lifts on a fixed Saturday towards the middle of December.
The administrative agency of the Association includes:
- the Assembly; that includes a representative from each of the Lift Companies or the Association of Companies from the 8 Skirama resorts; usually the President or Managing Director of the Lift Companies.
- the Board of Directors; made up of 6 members that includes the President of the Association; usually 5 Lift Company Directors that are marketing experts and the Manager of one of the 5 Tourism Boards.
- The President.
